Happy Earth Day Tennessee!
As lovers of green lawns and proponents of natural lawn care, we have a deep connection to the environment and strive daily to keep our planet healthy and green. Without tender loving care, the farmland, vineyards, pastures, gorgeous rolling hills, and our Smoky Mountains would not survive. It is up to us to preserve the nature experience so our children can make memories rolling down the hills!
To celebrate this year, we’re sharing some fun facts about Earth Day:
-The grand theme for 2014 is Green Cities. To learn more, go to Earthday.org to see what you can do to join the movement.
-20 million people participated in the first Earth Day which was April 22, 1970.
-More than 100 billion pieces of junk mail are delivered in the US each year.
-It only take about 6 weeks total to manufacture, fill, sell, recycle, then remanufacture an aluminum beverage can.
-The average person in America generates about 4.5 pounds of trash each day, only 1.1 pounds is recycled.
Grab the kids and DO SOMETHING today that will benefit the earth. Recycle those newspapers or glass bottles sitting around, go for a walk and pick up a few pieces of litter, fix that leaky faucet once and for all, or plant a tree! The kids will love whatever you end up doing, especially when making it fun!
