Fall Is Best

While some types of aeration can be effective during other seasons, autumn is your best bet for aerating your lawn. This creates a solid foundation for your yard as you look ahead to the spring growing season. Fall lawn aeration improves the health of your yard by:

• Reducing soil compaction, which improves drainage

• Increasing the flow of water, air, and nutrients to the roots of your grass

• Strengthening and deepening the root system

Aerate and Over-Seed Together

Over-seeding in the fall is a great way to set your yard up for success next spring. And the best time to over-seed is right after you’ve aerated.

The holes created by aeration become the perfect nests for the new seed to grow. The grass seeds will soak up the available water, oxygen, and nutrients from the openings and starve out the weed seeds that attempt to germinate.

Over-seeding can also help keep your grass greener through the winter months, make your lawn more drought tolerant, and create thicker, more comfortable turf.
